‘PRESS RELEASE’

‘DRUMCHAPEL D5K FUN RUN’

Sunday the 29th June will see upwards of 1,000 people from all over the city hit the streets of Drumchapel for the 4th annual ‘D5K Fun Run’.  The event, a partnership of Drumchapel L.I.F.E., Land and Environmental Services, Culture and Sport Glasgow and Strathclyde Police, began in 2005 out of an idea from people in the area.  The event has grown into a fantastic family event with people of all ages and abilities getting out, getting fit and having fun.
Councillor Paul Carey, who has been involved in the D5K from the start said, "I am absolutely delighted that the D5K has taken off in the last 4 years.  No-one could have imagined how popular this event has become, not only has it grown year upon year, it is fantastic that other parts of the city have now copied the Drumchapel 5K event.  This event makes people feel good about themselves and the place where they live."
Kenny Macdonald, Manager of Drumchapel L.I.F.E. said, "such has been the popularity of our event from the first year on, that the winning formula has now been replicated in the North of the city with the ‘NG5K Fun Run’ in April and the East End 5K Run in June.  It has been great for us and Glasgow, the 2014 Commonwealth Games City, that others across the city have followed our example."
So, get your skates on, the deadline for entries is Friday 13th June.  You can get a form by telephoning 0141 944 6004.  We look forward to seeing you!
